HYROX doubles: train as a pair
Doubles is a different race. You run together, so your training needs to reflect that.
Reece · Level 3 PT · 28 October 2026 · 5 min readIn HYROX doubles, both partners run every kilometre together and split the work on each station between them. That changes how you should train: you need a shared running pace, a plan for every station and fast handovers.
01Run at the pair's pace
Because you share the station work, you get more rest than in singles, so the runs are quicker. But you can only run as fast as the slower partner. Do some of your race-pace runs together so you find a pace you can both hold.
02Split stations by strengths
Decide who does what before race day. The stronger partner might take more of the sleds; the better runner might save their legs for the runs. Then train the stations you will be doing most of.
03Practise the handovers
Swaps cost time if they are messy. Practise them: agree a rep count or distance for each swap, and make the changeover fast.
04Know the rules
Doubles rules and weights are set in the official rulebook for your season, so read it before you race and train with the right weights.
